The Swings are Installed!
On Saturday (and again for a bit on Sunday) a group of dedicated volunteers worked in the hot sun to install the much-anticipated swings at the Norton Community Playground.
A big thank you to all of the people who came out to help this past weekend. Way to go! The playground just keeps getting better and better.
Thank You to Hall Bros. for letting us borrow a fork lift. |
Another sand box was added and a lot of sand too. |
Concrete was poured for the new flag pole. |
And the concrete was poured for the swings. |
And while we waited for the concrete to set, we weeded the gardens. |
Next we installed the arm pieces for the swings. |
We also had helpers spreading more of the nice rubber tire mulch. |
Here it is: the first of the new swings. |

SWINGS for the Playground - TREES for the Park
Tomorrow, Saturday, the tenth of August, there will be volunteers at the Norton Community Playground working on the installation of the swings that still need to be re-assembled. As well, there will be people planting trees around the Legacy Park. The work will begin around 8am and the volunteers have planned on returning on Sunday if necessary to complete whatever works remains unfinished at the end of the day on Saturday.
So if you are available and feel like helping out in the community, please feel free to drop by and offer a hand (even if just for as little as a half hour). Many hands make light work, so we would appreciate any help we can get! Thank you and have a lovely weekend.

Norton outdoor rink
The outdoor rink in Norton is filled with snow. Lots of snow. It is much too big to be shoveled out by hand, so we are going to need some assistance. If anyone is capable of helping us blow the snow out of the rink, we will be very grateful. And we'll be able to start flooding it to get it ready for skating!
If you are able to help us out, please contact Ian Sherwood at 839-2959 or 435-1905. Or just head on up to the rink and blow it out for us anonymously!
